A Guide on How to Cancel Nuffield Health Membership

Nuffield Health offers a variety of gym memberships with a range of facilities. Their memberships can be quite expensive, so you might want to cancel yours instead of losing money. Follow the steps in this guide to contact Nuffield Health and cancel your Nuffield Health membership. You will need to know and provide your membership number, membership type, and the location of the gym that you have a membership for.

Cancel by Telephone

1) To cancel Nuffield Health by phone, call 0300 123 5084. Press 2 for switchboard and general enquiries and you should get through to a person at Nuffield Health. Explain that you want to cancel a membership. They can direct you to the appropriate department who will be able to access your account and amend it.

2) If you explain the reason that you want to cancel, then they can advise you on all of the options that are available to you. For example, it might be better for you to freeze your membership for a few months or to transfer the membership to another location. If you are set on cancelling, then you must do so within 14 days of starting a membership to get a refund. Cancelling after 14 days and before the minimum term of your contract ends depends on their terms and conditions, which they should be able to explain to you.

3) In all cases, you must cancel on the 1st day of the month to end your membership on the last day of the month. Cancelling after that will mean that your membership will not terminate until the end of the next month instead. For example, cancelling on 1st May would end your membership on 31st May. However, if you cancel from 2nd May to 1st June, then your membership would not end until 30th June. You would still have to pay your membership fees if the due dates fall before the termination date.  In order to cancel like this, they may ask you to submit a cancellation request in writing and provide the evidence to support it.

4) Unless you are cancelling due to a reason outlined in their terms and conditions, they will not allow you to cancel as above. Accepted reasons to cancel include relocating too far from a Nuffield Health location or being unable to attend due to injury or a medical condition, or being unable to afford the membership due to loss of employment. You will have to prove such changes in circumstances before they will approve the cancellation. You will not get a refund in this case. If you want to cancel due to an invalid reason, you will still have to keep paying the membership fees until the end of your contract term even if you do not attend.

Cancel Online

You cannot cancel your Nuffield Health membership online easily. However, you can go to the website and log in to manage your account. You can find your membership details there and view the contract. This will outline the terms and conditions for cancellation of your membership, or the options to freeze or transfer.

Alternatively, you can fill in and submit an online contact form with your cancellation request. Specify the location and your membership number as well as current contact details so that they can get back to you.

The terms for cancellation described above will apply. Nuffield Health may respond to request evidence from you before agreeing to terminate your membership. Once the cancellation is in effect, they send a confirmation to let you know the final day of your membership. You must not cancel any Direct Debits until after this date. Nuffield Health will continue to charge you until that day even if you do not attend.

Cancel by Post

To cancel in writing, you can also send a letter rather than an e-mail. If you attend the location then you should know the address, but if you do need the postal address then you can search for it on their website.

It is a good idea to pay a little extra for tracked postage so that you know when your cancellation letter arrives. Bear in mind that this will take longer for them to process. If they receive the request later than the 1st of the month, even if you sent it before that, they will count your membership as ending the next month instead and this will cost you more. You can also send a letter to the Nuffield Health head office address below, but it will take even longer if they have to forward your request to the relevant location.
