Cancel by Telephone

  1. If you placed your order online but cannot cancel online for whatever reason, then you should call up on the phone. Dial 0844 381 0821 and hold to speak to an adviser at Argos. When they answer, provide your order number and explain that you want to cancel it. They will tell you if this is possible or if it is too late.
  2. When you order online, you can choose to pay upfront or pay when you collect the order instore. If you did not pay already, you could let the order “expire.” This means that if you fail to collect it, they will return it to stock. The same applies if you did pay online, but you will have to wait longer for the refund. Contacting Argos customer services to cancel as soon as possible is the best way to ensure you’ll get your money back.
  3. In some cases, an order for home delivery may already be in the dispatch process. Unfortunately, they will not be able to cancel your order at this stage. Instead, you must wait until it arrives then return it to Argos. The adviser can tell you what your options are for returning your particular order. They will issue a refund once they receive the return. To speed things up, you should take the items into an Argos store, if possible.

Cancel Online

To cancel an order quickly, access your Argos account. This is only applicable for orders you have placed online. If you ordered instore, you will need to call or use the live chat to discuss your order. Some orders, such as Tu Clothing or instore collection at Sainsbury’s, are not cancellable from your account. For these, you also need to contact Argos customer services. But first of all, here is how to cancel your online order:

Visit the Argos website and click to sign in at the top right. You must enter your e-mail address and the correct password to access your account. You may already be logged in if you recently placed an online order. When logged in, you will see “Your Account” at the top. Click this to see an overview of your Argos account. Click on the first link, “Recent Orders,” to view your orders and make any possible amendments.

You should be able to see a list of recent orders. If you can’t find the order you are looking for, click the drop-down option to enter your order number and press the button to find it. When you have found it, click to view the order details. This next window will show you if you are able to make any changes to the order or not. If it is possible for you to cancel it, then click to cancel. You should receive a confirmation e-mail soon after to prove that it was cancelled. If you are not sure that the cancellation went through, call Argos customer services as above. They can confirm the order status for you if it is unclear in your account.

As mentioned, there are certain orders that you cannot cancel yourself in your online account. To get help with cancelling such orders, besides calling, you can use the Live Chat. Click here and then click the “Live Chat Now” button. This will launch the Argos live chat window in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Enter your name and select either the number that your order number begins with or the reason you need to live chat from the drop-down list. In the comment box, you can write anything like “cancel order” or “cancellation.” Then click the “Start chat” button, and an Argos customer services adviser will introduce themselves in the next few seconds. Make sure you have all of the details of your order ready to give them.

The Argos adviser will let you know if they can cancel your order for you. They can give you a timeframe for your refund or instruct you on anything else you need to do. When they successfully cancel an order, you should receive a cancellation confirmation e-mail as well. Let them know if you have not received it.

Cancel by Post

In the digital age, cancelling orders by post is far too slow, especially if the orders were placed online. The dispatch and delivery process is fast enough that you could receive your order before Argos even receives your cancellation request. One way to cancel is to wait for the delivery then refuse the parcel at the door. In this case, the courier will return the declined order and Argos will process your refund. This is faster than returning the parcel yourself, but you will need to be at home to refuse the delivery. Some items for home delivery can’t be returned instore, so you might have to return them by post. The invoice or delivery note will have instructions on how to return each item in the order. To save yourself time, you can call Argos and request a collection for home delivery orders. They will even refund the delivery charges, too. It can take 5-7 days for your bank to process the refund and for the money to appear in your bank account.
