A Guide on How to Cancel Your Birchbox Subscription in 2019

Birchbox is the number one beauty box subscription in the UK, delivering 5 sample products each month. If you are not happy with the Birchbox service, use the guide below to cancel your Birchbox subscription.

Cancel by Telephone

1. Call Birchbox on 0844 257 3950 to speak to a team member about cancelling your subscription. If there is nobody available to take your call, you can leave a message explaining the issue and requesting that they call you back. Include your full name, postcode, and e-mail address so they can locate your subscriptions.

2.  Explain that you would like Birchbox to cancel your subscription with effect from a certain date. You can cancel a monthly subscription at any point, as long as you call to notify Birchbox by 5pm on the last day of the previous month. Otherwise, they will charge your card on the 1st of the month for the next beauty box. If you have an ongoing 3, 6, or 12-month subscription, this is a fixed-term contract, meaning that you can only cancel it by opting out in the final month at least 3 days before it expires to prevent it from renewing.

3. If you are a new member and want to leave after receiving your first box, you can cancel within 14 days for a full refund (excluding delivery charges). Birchbox will instruct you to return the goods to them in the same condition as you received them, and at your own cost – meaning that you should pay for a recorded method of delivery and retain proof of postage. This only applies for monthly subscriptions. For 6 and 12-month subscriptions, you can only cancel for a refund within your first month. Any cancellations after this will not be eligible for any refunds. You can use your subscription until the end of your current month, but Birchbox will suspend all your Birchbox Benefits from the time that you notified them of the cancellation.

Cancel Online

You will have created a Birchbox account when you ordered your subscription. Go to the Birchbox website and click the “Log in” link in the top left corner to access your account and manage your own subscription.

This will launch the login box as a pop-up. Enter your e-mail address and the password for your Birchbox account then click the big pink “Log In” button to get into your account, where you can view your details.

Your name will appear in the top left corner once you are logged in. Clicking on your name will reveal the drop-down menu, where you should click on “Account Settings.” You can see your subscription details in this section, and there will be a “Cancel my subscription” option. There will be a series of onscreen steps to follow and you must fill out a short survey before confirming the cancellation. This will cancel future billing and automatically send you a cancellation confirmation e-mail for your own records. You cannot cancel and then repurchase a subscription in the same month to receive the same box twice – your new subscription will start from the following month. If you want to cancel a 3, 6, or 12-month subscription, the red “Opt Out” link in your Account Settings will only appear in the final month. Please note that you can’t cancel subscriptions through the Birchbox app. You can contact Birchbox by e-mail to cancel within 14 days and organize a return. Cancel by Post

If for any reason you are unable to cancel your subscription yourself in your online account, or you are unable to connect with Birchbox by phone or e-mail, then you also have the option of writing a letter to them. Remember that Birchbox needs to receive your cancellation request in time to process it before the next billing date. For this reason, make sure that the letter has enough time to arrive at least three working days in advance of the 1st of the month. If you are returning the first beauty box within 14 days, you could include the letter with the return. Send such correspondence using a tracked delivery service so that you’ll have a record of when it arrives and proof that you did post it.
