Go Skippy is an insurance broker in the UK with around 280,000 customers. As a smaller company, they offer most of their services online. If you are unhappy with them and want to cancel your Go Skippy car insurance policy, then follow this guide. These steps will show you how to cancel Go Skippy insurance.
Cancel by Telephone
1) To cancel your Go Skippy car insurance, call Go Skippy on 0344 840 6300. They should always be open between 9am and 5pm, though opening times vary from 8am and closing times vary up to 8pm. There will be a long pre-recorded message when you call this number, but you will reach the switchboard after this.
2) From the list of options, press 1 as you will already have a policy. Then press 1 again to select the option to make a change to your policy. There are other options for renewing, purchasing additions, payments, or other queries. Finally, press 1 again to speak to an agent. You should get through to somebody right away.
3) Explain to them that you want to cancel your insurance policy and why. You should have copies of your policy documents to hand so that you can provide your policy number. If you read through them before the call you should be aware of any terms and conditions around policy cancellation. In general, if you cancel within 14 days there will be a charge of £35. Cancelling mid-term at any point after 14 days will normally result in a charge of £75. Even if you are cancelling before the policy officially starts, there is a fee of £25.
Go Skippy has an online portal which you can log into at any time to manage your insurance policy. Visit the online portal and enter your details to access your customer account. Find the instructions on how to cancel within your policy details. You should check them carefully for administration fees and any other charges which you agreed to owing Go Skippy in the event of cancellation when you took out the policy.
If you would like to contact Go Skippy online to speak with an agent, they offer a live chat. This is available during the same hours as the phone lines. However, it closes on Sundays. To use the service simply go onto Go Skippy’s website and click on the green circle in the bottom right corner. This will launch a pop-up tab.
Click on the fifth option down in the list, “Cancel a policy,” if this is what you want to do. Then select your insurance type out of car, van, bike, or home insurance. You then have the option of “Lapse policy” if your insurance is due for renewal but you would rather leave Go Skippy. They should not charge you anything extra if you decide to go elsewhere once your policy term ends. However, if you are choosing “mid-term cancellation” this is likely to incur expensive additional charges. Click the orange “Start Live Chat” button to notify Go Skippy of your intent to cancel and discuss the relevant fees. Alternatively, you can send an e-mail to Go Skippy containing your policy details. You can write to them at email@example.com.
Cancel by Post
Even if you call Go Skippy or e-mail them about cancelling your insurance policy, you might want to back this up with an old-fashioned written letter. This way you can confirm that you have definitely given them notice. When you put your cancellation notice in writing, you must include the relevant details. This will be your policy number and your name, address, and date of birth. You should also state the date that you want the cancellation to take effect from. If you already spoke to somebody online or on the phone about it, then include their name and what they told you about the terms of your cancellation. Go Skippy will be in touch with you to provide a final bill for your outstanding premium plus the administration and cancellation fee.
