A Guide on How to Cancel Soundcloud Go in 2019

Soundcloud Go is a service on the music-streaming platform Soundcloud, allowing users to access ad-free music offline. Soundcloud Go+ is available with premium tracks. If you want to cancel your Soundcloud Go or Soundcloud Go+ subscription, read this guide and follow the steps to cancel the service and save money.

Cancel by Telephone

To cancel your Soundcloud Go subscription by phone, call 0844 257 4100 to get help. Soundcloud Go costs £5.99 a month and Soundcloud Go+ is £9.99 a month, but you might have tried them for free. These trials last 7 days and 30 days respectively, so you need to cancel on the last day at the latest if you don’t want to pay for the subscription. Failure to cancel before your free trial automatically renews for the first billing period of your paid subscription means that Soundcloud will charge your card and you will not be able to get a refund for this. Please note that if you purchased your subscription through Apple, then you cannot cancel it through Soundcloud. You’ll need to follow this guide for cancelling Apple subscriptions instead.

Cancel Online

If you purchased Soundcloud Go online, or through the Android app, you must go to the website on your computer to amend or cancel the subscription. You cannot cancel it through the app. Go to the Soundcloud website and click the button in the top right corner to sign in. Enter your details to log into your account.

In your account, click the 3 dots in the top right corner. Then select “Subscription” in the drop-down list.

This will take you to your Subscriptions page, where you can change your payment details if you just want to use a different card. It will also tell you when your subscription will renew, meaning that Soundcloud is going to charge you the monthly fee on this date. You need to cancel by at least the day before this date to avoid being billed for the next month. Click the “Edit” button next to the subscription you want to cancel.

A pop-up will show you the summary of your current plan. Click the smaller link at the bottom to opt out of subscription renewal. This means that you are no longer giving Soundcloud permission to automatically renew the ongoing subscription each month. If you allow them to continue, they will continue to bill you.

The next page will show you the Soundcloud Go plan compared to the standard free plan which you will be downgrading to. If you are sure about cancelling, then click the “Confirm & cancel plan” button to cancel.

Soundcloud will give you a confirmation message to let you know they are cancelling your subscription. If you understand this message and the consequences of cancelling your subscription, click on “Ok, got it.”

This will bring you back to the “Subscriptions” page, which will now have changed. You will no longer see your payment card details, as Soundcloud will not be charging the card again. Where the renewal date was previously, it will now show your subscription expiry date. You will still be able to use Soundcloud Go until this date. After that, your plan will downgrade and you won’t be able to access the Soundcloud Go services.

You can re-start your Soundcloud Go subscription at any time by going to the website purchase page or using the app to sign up again. As mentioned, you do not get a refund when you cancel Soundcloud Go.

Cancel by Post

Since closing their London office in 2017, only the Soundcloud head office in Berlin and a New York office remain. This means that if you want to write Soundcloud a letter to request cancellation of your account, you will have to send it to Germany and pay for the postage. It is much cheaper and easier to cancel online yourself. However, if you have a severe problem with the website or app, or believe that you should receive a refund for lack of services, then you can try writing a letter to the Soundcloud head office at this address:
